The Words Synopsis

Famous author Clayton Hammond (Dennis Quaid) attends to a public reading of his new book, The Words, centered on Rory Jansen (Bradley Cooper), an aspiring writer who lives in New York City with his girlfriend, Dora (Zoe Saldana). With the help of his father (J.K. Simmons), Rory gets a job as a mail supervisor in a literary agency and attempts to sell his first novel, that is continually rejected by publishers.

Rory and Dora eventually get married and, during their honeymoon in Paris, Dora presents Rory with an old briefcase bought from an antiques store. Returning to America, Rory finds a masterfully written manuscript in the briefcase and transcribes it to his laptop. Mistakenly assuming Rory wrote it, Dora encourages him to meet with a publisher, Joseph Cutler (Zeljko Ivanek), who offers Rory a contract upon reading the manuscript, which Rory accepts. The book is a hit, and Rory becomes an awarded author.

Hammond takes a break from the reading and goes backstage, where he is introduced by his agent (John Hannah) to Danielle (Olivia Wilde), a student and amateur writer who wants to interview him, and notes that he is separated from his wife, although he still wears a wedding ring. Hammond agrees to meet her after the ceremony and returns to the podium, where he continues to read the book.

The second part of the reading details Rory's encounter with the Old Man (Jeremy Irons), who reveals himself as the true author of the manuscript. He explains that, as a young man (Ben Barnes), he was stationed in France in the final days of World War II and fell in love with a waitress named Celia (Nora Arnezeder). They got married and had a daughter, but the baby died shortly after birth, leaving the couple bankrupt. Unable to cope with the loss, Celia left the Man and moved to her parents' house. The Man then used his pain as inspiration to write the manuscript, which he sent to Celia in a briefcase, convincing her to return to him. However, she forgot the briefcase in the train after her trip back to Paris, and the manuscript was lost. Infuriated, the Man abandoned Celia. Upon hearing of this, Rory attempts to credit the Old Man for the novel, but the Old Man refuses, leaving Rory alone, forced to live with his mistake.

The public reading ends, and Danielle accompanies Hammond back to his apartment, where she pressures him into telling her how the story ends. Hammond confides with her that Rory told his wife the truth, and her disappointment was such that she left him. His attempts to give the Old Man proper credit were undone by Cutler, fearing that his reputation would be tarnished. Desperate, Rory sought the Old Man one last time, and the Old Man revealed that, years after he abandoned Celia, he spotted her in a train station as he was returning to America, having found another husband and had a daughter with him. The Old Man claims people always move on from their mistakes, as did Celia, and Rory will, too.

Danielle continues to pressure Hammond for more details, and he reveals that the Old Man died not long after, but Rory never moved on, and was tormented by nightmares until he focused his grief on another book, one that'd allow him to tell the true story of the manuscript. Rory titled the book The Words.

Danielle kisses Hammond, but he pulls away, fearing to move on. As he is forced to question himself and see if he is ready, he remembers Rory lying in Dora's arms as she tells him everything will be alright. It's left unclear if The Words is a semi-autobiographic book, with Rory being Hammond's surrogate.

The Possession Synopsis

In the opening of the film a woman tries to open a strange box, attempting to protect herself with holy water and a hammer. She starts being thrown violently around the room and having seizures. When her son enters, she is unconscious on the floor.

Next the audience is introduced to couple Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) who are in the process of divorce, which is having an effect on their children, Em (Natasha Calis) and Hannah (Madison Davenport). When the children move into Clyde's new house, they take time to adjust to the new split in their lives.

The next day, they stop by at a yard sale, initially to buy more dishes, but then Em becomes intrigued by an old box which has Hebrew inscriptions engraved on it. The box fascinates Em, and she asks her father if she can have it. Clyde agrees while he is talking on the phone. Clyde is busy with his ongoing job at the local university.

They hear an animalistic noise in their kitchen one night, but when the intruder escapes through their dog flap, Clyde assumes it was a raccoon.

Em becomes solitary and spends all her spare time staring at the box. Em's behavior increasingly grows more sinister, with Clyde and Hannah freaking out when they see her sitting in her room surrounded by moths one night.

Stephanie, Clyde's divorced wife, spends time with her new boyfriend, Brett (Grant Show), an orthodontist. Stephanie assumes the crowd of moths were attracted to the pizza they had for dinner, of which she disapproves. Em's behavior gradually grows more violent. When she strikes out at a schoolmate who was trying to steal her box, she is brought to the attention of the authorities, who recommend that she spend time away from the box which has fixated her so greatly. Unfortunately, her teacher marking grades that night dies when a malevolent force throws her rapidly around the room and beats her to death before throwing her out the window.

In a diner, Em tells Clyde about a woman who lives in her box who says Em is "special." Her father is alarmed by her eating behavior. Em has notably changed. She eats voraciously. Em also tells Clyde that "she's still hungry." The entity is slowly taking over Emily. Clyde attempts to dispose of the old box by throwing it in a garbage unit, but Em races from her house late at night to get the box. She seems to become totally possessed by the entity at this time.

Clyde, immensely disturbed, takes the box to a professor at the university. The professor tells him the box dates back to the 1920s and was used to contain a broken spirit, an ancient Jewish evil or demon, and the box is a Dybbuk box. When a demon got too much to handle the Jews contained it in a box and sealed the box to prevent anyone opening it.

Clyde immediately travels to the local Hasidic community, and learns from a Jew named Tzadok (Matisyahu) that the possession has three main stages, with the third stage being the one where the Dybbuk latches onto the host, becoming one entity with it. The only way to defeat the Dybbuk is to lock it back into the box in a forced ritual, for which the demon's name is needed. Returning from New York City, Tzadok breaks the mirror inside the box and discovers it is named Abizu.

At home, Em violently attacks her mother when Stephanie discovers her eating like an animal out of the refrigerator. The Dybbuk tries to kill Stephanie but is stopped. Em has no recollection of this attack. Stephanie reunites with Clyde to have an MRI scan on Em. Stephanie is horrified when she sees the Dybbuk's face inside Em's skeleton, near the heart.

Stephanie realizes Em is possessed. Tzadok and the family and rush to a deserted rehab room in the hospital to conduct an exorcism. The Dybbuk proves too powerful to handle and escapes, with Em rushing down the corridors and Clyde following. Em beats Clyde seemingly to death. He survives but now is possessed by the Dybbuk. Tzadok performs an exorcism which is successful, with the Dybbuk crawling out of Clyde and back into the box, which slams shut.

Em, fine now, is reunited with her family, who thank Tzadok as he departs. He drives his vehicle to put the box somewhere safe. However, his car is hit by a truck, apparently killing him. The Dybbuk box is unharmed, with the demon still inside.

Lawless Synopsis

During the Prohibition era, the Bondurant brothers -- Forrest (Tom Hardy), Howard (Jason Clarke) and Jack (Shia LaBeouf) -- run a successful liquor bootlegging business in Franklin County, Virginia, with the help of their friend, Cricket Pate (Dane DeHaan), using their bar as a front for their illegal activities.

One day, Jack witnesses mobster Floyd Banner (Gary Oldman) eliminating a competitor and they exchange looks before Jack returns to the bar, where Forrest hires Maggie Beauford (Jessica Chastain), a dancer from Chicago, to be their new waitress. Shortly afterwards, the bar is visited by brutal Special Agent Charlie Rakes (Guy Pearce), on behalf of Commonwealth's Attorney Mason Wardell. Rakes informs Forrest that he wants a cut of all profit made by Franklin's bootleggers, but Forrest refuses and threatens to kill Rakes if he returns. Forrest later meets with the other bootleggers and convinces them to stand up to Rakes as well, though they eventually give in to Rakes' violent intimidation tactics.

Meanwhile, Jack meets Bertha Minnix (Mia Wasikowska), daughter of the local preacher. He attends the church drunk and makes a fool of himself, causing Bertha's father to forbid her from seeing him, which only makes her more interested in Jack, with whom she flirts. Jack later finds Rakes raiding Cricket's house in search of his distilation equipment. When they don't find it, Rakes brutally beats Jack when he tries to intervene. Forrest hears of this and tells Jack that he needs to learn how to fight for himself.

Forrest and Howard arrange to meet with potential clients from Chicago, but Howard misses his appointment to get drunk with a friend, and Forrest ends up beating the two men with Cricket's help when they harrass Maggie. Later, after Cricket leaves, the men return, slash Forrest's throat, and rape Maggie.

Howard and Jack meet a surviving Forrest at the hospital, and Jack decides to travel to Chicago with Cricket to sell the liquor. Arriving there, they are doublecrossed by their clients, but are rescued by Banner, who recognizes Jack. Banner already knows of the attack on Forrest, as well as the identities of the two assailants, and he provides Jack with their address, and also advises Jack that they are working for Rakes. Forrest and Howard later find, torture, and kill the men to send a message to Rakes.

Banner becomes a regular client of the brothers, who move their distilation equipment to the woods and have great profit. The money allows Jack to continue courting Bertha, while Forrest begins a relationship with Maggie after she moves into the bar for her safety, though she doesn't tell him she was raped.

Jack eventually decides to show Bertha the distilation center, but they are ambushed by Rakes and his men, who had followed her. Howard incapacitates Rakes and Jack nearly kills him before they are forced to flee from Rakes's men with Bertha and Cricket, who is later recaptured and murdered by Rakes, who snaps his neck.

Wanting revenge for Cricket's death, Jack goes to confront Rakes and his men at a roadblock in the local bridge. Howard follows after him, rallying the bootleggers to come to their aid. Forrest decides to join them, though Maggie tries to dissuade him, telling him that it was she who had found him with his throat slashed and took him to the hospital. Forrest realizes then that she was also attacked that night, but Maggie continues to deny having been raped.

The bootleggers engage Rakes' men in a violent firefight, during which Rakes shoots Forrest multiple times before being shot in the leg and attempting to escape. A wounded Jack follows him to the bridge and shoots Rakes in the chest, wounding him. Howard later stabs Rakes with a large knife and leaves him to bleed to death.

With Rakes and his men dead, the Bondurant Brothers decide to save their money and retire after Prohibition ends. Jack marries Bertha, Forrest marries Maggie, and Howard marries a local woman, all having children.

During a reunion at Jack's house, Forrest drunkly dances on a frozen lake and falls into the freezing water, dying of pneumonia a few weeks later.

2016: Obama's America Synopsis

The documentary begins with D'Souza on screen describing his own experiences as an Indian-American immigrating to the United States, as a college student at Dartmouth College, and then as an editor at the conservative magazine Policy Review, pointing out the similarities between his life and Barack Obama's. The film changes location to Indonesia, where a young Barack Obama is being reared by his mother Ann Dunham and stepfather Lolo Soetoro. A psychologist discusses the detrimental effect of an absentee father on his children, and Obama's half brother George Obama is interviewed.

As Obama's parents' relationship becomes strained, Obama is sent to Hawaii to live with his grandparents and meets Frank Marshall Davis. Obama finishes his college studies at Columbia, where the film claims he is influenced by anti-colonialist figures. His progression into an intellectual is highlighted by a return visit to Kenya. The film incorporates spoken words from Obama's audio book, Dreams from My Father.

D'Souza discusses Obama's father, Barack Obama, Sr., and what D'Souza describes as Obama Sr.'s anti-colonialist views of the British Empire. This, according to D'Souza, explains why Obama supposedly rejects American exceptionalism and why D'Souza believes he is attempting to "reshape America". D'Souza delves into what he terms the "founding fathers" from Obama's past, including Frank Marshall Davis, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Edward Said, and Roberto Unger. As a result, the film argues that President Obama wants to significantly reduce the U.S.'s influence within the world while increasing the influence of nations that he believes have suffered or been held back economically or militarily due to U.S. and western domination. The Odd Life of Timothy Green Synopsis

The film is told in from the perspective of Cindy (Jennifer Garner) and Jim Green (Joel Edgerton), as they explain their experience with Timothy (CJ Adams) in an effort to persuade to the adoption services to allow the couple to adopt a child. Cindy, who works in the town's local museum and Jim who is employed at the town's historic pencil factory, reside in the drought-stricken town of Stanleyville, North Carolina. The Greens are informed by doctors that they are unable to conceive. Distraught by the news, Jim convinces Cindy to dream up their ideal child and write the child's characteristics and life events on slips of notepad paper.

The couple places the notes inside a box and bury it in their backyard garden. After a thunderstorm, which seemingly affects only their property, a ten year-old arrives at their home, claiming the Greens as his parents. Soon they realize that the boy, named Timothy, is actually a culmination of all their wishes of what their child would be. The couple also discovers that Timothy has a startling feature; he has leaves growing on his legs.

The next day, at a family picnic, Timothy is introduced to members of his family: Brenda Best (Rosemarie DeWitt), Cindy's pompous sister; James Green Sr. (David Morse), Jim's estranged father and Mel (Lois Smith) and Bub (M. Emmet Walsh), Cindy's parental aunt and uncle. The parents take Timothy to their friend and town botanist Reggie (Lin-Manuel Miranda), where they learn that Timothy's leaves are unable to be removed.

Timothy begins to attend school where he meets Joni Jerome (Odeya Rush), a girl he meets during a bullying incident, who he begins to have a mutual relationship with. Meanwhile, the town's pencil factory, the largest employer in Stanleyville, begins laying employees off. Timothy convinces Cindy and Jim to design a prototype for a new pencil in an effort to keep the pencil-producing business viable.

Unbeknownst to the parents, Timothy's leaves begin to shed after he meets and improves someone's life. Timothy eventually reveals to Cindy and Jim that his time of existence is short and that he will eventually disappear.

The Dark Knight Rises Synopsis

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Gotham City is in a state of peace. Under powers granted by the Dent Act—legislation inspired by the late Harvey Dent—the Gotham City Police Department has nearly eradicated organized crime. Batman has disappeared and Bruce Wayne has become a recluse. Police Commissioner James Gordon feels guilty about the cover-up of Dent's crimes, and writes a resignation speech confessing the truth; however, he decides that the city is not ready to hear it. While searching for a missing congressman, Gordon is captured and his speech taken by Bane. Gordon is shot during his escape and found by patrol officer John Blake. While recuperating, Gordon promotes Blake to detective, with Blake reporting directly to him.

Wayne Enterprises is nearly bankrupt after Bruce invested in board member Miranda Tate's clean energy project, designed to harness fusion power, only to shut it down after discovering the core could be used as a nuclear weapon. Blake—who has deduced Batman's identity—and Gordon encourage Batman to return, but Alfred Pennyworth resigns after a failed attempt to dissuade him. Bane attacks a stock exchange and bankrupts Bruce, using fingerprints cat burglar Selina Kyle stole from Bruce’s safe. Fearing that his business rival, John Daggett—who employed Bane to aid in a hostile takeover—would gain access to the reactor, Bruce asks Tate to take control of Wayne Enterprises. Bane subsequently kills Daggett as he is no longer of use.

Batman asks Selina Kyle to lead him to Bane in exchange for a program that will erase her identity from every database on the planet, allowing her to retire. However, Selina actually leads him to a trap; Bane agreed to let her live if she brought him Batman. During the confrontation between Bane and Batman, Bane reveals he knows Batman's identity, that he leads the League of Shadows following Ra's al Ghul's death, and that he will steal Wayne Enterprises’ weapons. He physically cripples Batman and sends him to a foreign prison where escape is virtually impossible. The inmates relate the story of Ra's al Ghul's child who was born in the prison and the only person to escape; Bruce believes that the child was Bane. Meanwhile, Bane traps most of Gotham's police underground using bombs throughout the city, and cuts Gotham off from the rest of the world. Bane tells the citizens that any attempt to leave the city will result in the detonation of the fusion core, now converted into a bomb. Bane reveals the cover-up of Dent's crimes and releases the prisoners in Blackgate Penitentiary. Bane starts a social revolution among the poor and criminals of Gotham. The wealthy are given show trials presided over by Dr. Jonathan Crane, where the "convicted" are killed no matter the sentence.

Bruce spends five months recovering and retraining himself. He escapes from the prison and returns to Gotham, enlisting Selina, Blake, Tate, Gordon and Lucius Fox to aid in liberating Gotham and stopping the bomb. During a confrontation between the police and Bane's forces, Batman subdues Bane. Tate intervenes, coming to Bane's aid and revealing herself to be Ra's al Ghul's daughter Talia. She escaped the prison as a child, returning with her father and the League of Shadows to rescue Bane, the one person who helped her escape. She plans to kill Batman and complete her father's work by destroying Gotham. Gordon disables the bomb's remote detonator, while Selina shoots Bane using the Batpod's cannon before he can execute Batman. Batman tries to force Talia to take the bomb to the fusion chamber where it can be stabilized, but she is injured in the attempt. Before dying, Talia floods the chamber. Gordon deduces Batman's identity as Batman uses an aircraft developed by Fox to haul the bomb beyond the city limits. The bomb detonates over the ocean and presumably kills Batman.

Batman is praised as a hero, while Bruce is assumed killed in the riots. After Bruce's funeral, Blake wants to reveal Batman's identity to the world, but Gordon disagrees. Bruce's estate is divided to cover any debts and the rest is left to Alfred; the manor is left to the city to become an orphanage. Fox discovers that Bruce had repaired the autopilot on the aircraft six months prior, and Gordon finds the Bat-Signal refurbished. Alfred witnesses Bruce and Selina together in Florence, while Blake inherits the Batcave.

The Campaign Synopsis

Democratic Congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) of North Carolina's 14th District is running for his fifth term unopposed. However his campaign is damaged when his image as a law-abiding Christian husband is shattered by the revelation of his affair with one of his supporters, when Cam accidentally leaves a sexually explicit voice message on a local family's phone. Corrupt businessmen, brothers Glen (John Lithgow) and Wade Motch (Dan Aykroyd), use this opportunity to convince Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), tourism director for the town of Hammond and son of one of their associates, Raymond Huggins (Brian Cox), to run against Cam on the Republican ticket, as part of a plan to profit from illegal dealings with Chinese companies. Cam at first underestimates Marty and humiliates him by playing a video biography highlighting Marty's dim-witted nature. The Motch brothers then hire Tim Wattley (Dylan McDermott) to be Marty's campaign manager. Tim reinvents Marty as a successful entrepreneur and family man. Marty's popularity rises due to his effective campaign while Cam's is further damaged when he accidentally punches a baby. Cam later runs a campaign portraying Marty as an Al Qaeda terrorist, and Marty exposes Cam as a fake Christian by asking him to recite the Lord's Prayer, which he fails to do. Cam attempts to restore his religious image by visiting a church of snake handlers, but he gets bitten by a snake. A video of the bite is leaked into the Internet and goes viral, increasing Cam's popularity.

When Cam's son plans to slander his competition for class president, Cam realizes he has set a bad example and visits Marty to make peace. A drunken Cam tells Marty that he originally became a politician to help people, citing that as class president he had a dangerous, rusty slide removed from the playground. After Cam leaves, Wattley convinces Marty to call the police and report Cam for driving while drunk. Cam is arrested and his campaign is again damaged. Marty then portrays Cam as dim-witted by publishing a "communist manifesto" that Cam had written in 2nd grade, and later showing a video of Cam's son addressing Marty as "dad". A furious Cam attacks Marty, resulting in Cam accidentally punching Uggie, the dog from The Artist, once more suffering in his popularity levels. Cam gets revenge on Marty by seducing his neglected wife Mitzy (Sarah Baker) and recording the act. The released sex tape humiliates the Huggins family and causes Cam's campaign manager, Mitch (Jason Sudeikis), to abandon him. Marty retaliates by shooting Cam in the leg on a hunting trip, increasing his own popularity.

As the election nears, Marty meets with the Motch brothers and learns of their plans to sell Hammond to their Chinese business partner and turn the town into a large series of factories. Marty realizes he has been used and rejects the Motch brothers' support. The Motch brothers offer Cam their support instead to preserve their plans. Marty meanwhile reconciles with his family.

On election day, Cam's victory appears to be certain until Marty comes forward and exposes the Motch brothers' intent and promises to preserve Hammond if elected. Cam still wins and remains congressman due to rigged voting machines owned by the Motch brothers. While Cam gloats, Marty shows his large scars to Cam and reveals that he looked up to Cam in school for getting rid of the dangerous slide. Realising he has swayed from his true objectives as a politician, Cam withdraws from the election and Marty wins by default. Cam earns back Mitch's respect, and Marty appoints him his chief of staff.

Six months later, Marty and Cam expose the Motch brothers' scandals and the brothers are called to appear before Congress. The Motch brothers point out that everything they did is legal under Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, but they are arrested for their association with Wattley, who is actually an international fugitive known as "The Greek Butcher." Marty and Cam celebrate their friendship as the Motch brothers and Wattley are carried away to jail.

ParaNorman Synopsis

In the small New England town of Blithe Hollow, Massachusetts, a boy named Norman Babcock is able to speak with the dead including his late grandmother and various ghosts in town. Unfortunately, almost no one among the living believes his ability is genuine and he is ostracized by his family while being ridiculed and bullied by most of his peers for his seemingly strange abilities.

However, Norman makes a friend with Neil Downe, an eccentric fat boy who is bullied himself and finds Norman's earnest admission as a medium an intriguing part of a kindred spirit. During rehearsal of a school play commemorating the town's witch execution of 300 years ago, Norman has a harrowing vision of the town's past and being pursued as a witch by the town's citizenry. Afterward, the boys are confronted by Norman's estranged and seemingly deranged uncle, Mr. Prenderghast, who tells his nephew that vision is a sign that he soon must take up his regular ritual to protect the town.

Norman refuses to take him seriously, but soon has another vision during the school play, creating a public spectacle of himself which leads to his embarrassed parents grounding him. Now completely despondent and isolated, Norman is confronted by the ghost of the recently deceased Prenderghast in the washroom who tells him that the ritual must be performed with a special book before sundown that day, before departing for the afterlife. After some consideration, Norman sets off to Prenderghast's residence to retrieve the book. Believing that Neil would not truly understand his situation, he drives him away. He arrives at the graves of the town's ancestors, including Judge Hopkins who were supposedly cursed by the witch they condemned, but finds the book is merely a collection of fairy tales.

Before Norman can ponder the situation, Alvin, a bully who overheard Norman's encounter in the washroom, intrudes and interferes with the reading until after sundown. With that, a ghostly storm resembling the witch appears in the air while the cursed dead arise and pursue the boys until they meet Norman's sister, Courtney, Neil and his own brother, Mitch, who have come to retrieve Norman. Together, the kids are relentlessly pursued by the zombies into town, but Norman manages to contact a classmate who tells them to access the Town Hall's archives for the location of the witch's unmarked grave.

As the kids make their way to the Town Hall, the zombies eventually lose them and find themselves confused by modern society and then are beset by the citizenry who attack them en masse. During the riot, the kids break into the archives but cannot find any information they need. As the mob moves to attack Town Hall, Norman in frustration temporarily drives away his companions only for them to be trapped by the mob. However, the Witch storm appears and Norman desperately climbs the Hall's tower to desperately attempt to read the book to stop her, but the witch blasts it with lightning and causes him to fall back down into the archives.

Unconscious, Norman has a dream where he learns that the witch was actually Agatha Prenderghast, an innocent little girl of his age who was also a medium, unjustly condemned by the town's superstitious and frightened elite who were then cursed by Agatha as she was taken for execution. After awakening, Norman encounters the zombies and realizes that all they wanted was to speak with him to ensure he would take up the ritual to minimize the harm of the terrible mistake they made with Agatha. However, Norman decides that this gesture is not enough and resolves to find Agatha's ghost to arrive at a permanent solution.

Norman attempts to help the zombies slip away to have them guide him to Agatha's grave, but are cornered by the mob. However, Courtney, who has come to realize her brother's true abilities, heroism and task, confronts the crowd and convinces them to back off. As the witch storm rages ever more destructively, Judge Hopkins guides Norman's family to the grave in a forest. Unfortunately, Agatha's magic separates Norman from the others and he must reach the grave on his own.

Norman finds the grave, and soon confronted by the vengeful spirit of Agatha, interacting with her in the spirit dimension. She tries to drive him away, but Norman resolutely holds his ground, telling her that he understands how she feels as a outcast. As she struggles to drive him away, Norman endures her assault and eventually convinces her that despite her legitimate grievance, her thirst for vengeance is accomplishing nothing but inflicting more pain and persuades her to stop. Norman tries to convince her that even in the darkest times, there must have been someone who was kind to her. Focusing only on the tragedies in her life and forgetting the good things in her life is what reduced her to a malevolent force devoid of her true identity.

Eventually, the girl, nicknamed Aggie, calms down at Norman's eloquence, recalling her true personality and happy memories with her mother. She is able to find a measure of peace, knowing that she is not alone and one person in the town understands her, allowing her to let go and move on to the afterlife. At that resolution, the storm dissipates, and she and the zombies all peacefully fade away. As day breaks, the town cleans up and regards Norman as a hero even when the outside media tries to explain the disturbance as merely a powerful storm. Norman, realizing that he too, should stop focusing on his memories of being ostracized and pushing others away, accepts Neil's companionship. At the end, Norman watches a horror film with the ghost of his Grandmother again, and his family eagerly joins him.

The Bourne Legacy Synopsis

Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) is a member of Operation Outcome, a Department of Defense black ops program which enhances the physical and mental abilities of field operatives. Cross is deployed to Alaska for a training assignment, where he must survive certain activities and traverse terrain to arrive at a remote cabin. The cabin is operated by an exiled Outcome operative, Number Three (Oscar Isaac), who, upon arrival, informs Cross that he broke the previous mission record by two days.

Meanwhile, Operation Blackbriar and the Treadstone Project have been exposed (through the actions of Jason Bourne as seen in The Bourne Ultimatum), leading the FBI to investigate CIA Deputy Director Pamela Landy (Joan Allen), Blackbriar supervisor Noah Vosen (David Strathairn), and CIA Director Ezra Kramer (Scott Glenn). Kramer requests help from Eric Byer (Edward Norton), a retired Air Force colonel responsible for overseeing the CIA's clandestine operations.

Byer decides to eliminate all Outcome assets and deploys a Predator drone to destroy Number Three's cabin and take out both Outcome operatives at once. Cross hears the drone's approach and leaves the cabin moments before a missile destroys it with Number Three inside. The drone detects Cross' presence, but Cross destroys it with a sniper rifle. Realizing that his superiors have ordered his assassination, Cross removes a tracking device in his abdomen and force feeds it to a wolf. A second Predator drone deployed to eliminate Cross strikes the wolf, and Byer assumes that Cross has been terminated.

Byer engineers the death of other assets through poisoned yellow chems and chemically brainwashes an Outcome scientist, Dr. Donald Foite (Željko Ivanek), into killing his colleagues and committing suicide. The only survivor is Dr. Marta Shearing (Rachel Weisz). Shearing is later attacked in her house by a "D-Track" team of undercover CIA assassins, but is rescued by Cross, who convinces her to help him. Shearing reveals that Cross was genetically modified to retain the physical benefits offered by the green chems without continuous consumption, a process called "viralling off", but that the blue, psychologically-enhancing, chems still required repeated consumption. Cross and Shearing travel to Manila, where the chems are manufactured, to help him viral off of the blue pills.

On the way there, Cross confides to Shearing that he is Kenneth J. Kitsom, a U.S. Army soldier who was "killed" by a roadside bomb in the Iraq War. He admits that he had below-average intelligence that the chems enhanced. Meanwhile, Byer tracks Cross and Shearing and learns of their plans. He orders Larx-03 (Louis Ozawa Changchien), a chemically-brainwashed supersoldier, to eliminate Cross.

In Manila, Cross and Shearing arrive at the factory that produces the pills, and proceed with the viral-off process. Byer contacts the factory's security staff, but Cross and Shearing escape. They take shelter in a local room, where Shearing helps Cross recover from the process, during which he hallucinates of his initiation in Outcome under Byer's supervision.

The following morning, the police surround Cross' location while Shearing is away buying medicine. She warns Cross, who escapes and rescues Shearing from the police who have chased her. They steal a motorcycle and are pursued by Larx-03. After a chase through the streets and marketplaces of Manila, Larx-03 crashes into a warehouse pillar. Shearing and Cross come off their damaged motorcycle, and are rescued by a Filipino boatman. They pay him a gold watch, which Cross stole earlier from the supervisor of the chem factory, to take them aboard and depart to places unknown, content that they are together.

The Expendables 2 Synopsis

The Expendables—leader Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), knives specialist Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), hand-to-hand combat specialist Yin Yang (Jet Li), heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), demolitions expert Toll Road (Randy Couture), the unstable Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), and sniper Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth), the team's newest recruit and Ross' protegée—are deployed to Nepal to rescue a Chinese businessman. There, they also rescue the captured mercenary Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Ross' rival. Yang parts with the group to escort the businessman back to China.

After returning to New York City, Billy tells Ross that he intends to retire by the end of the month to live in France with his girlfriend Sophia, and Ross accepts his decision. Later, Ross is forced to accept a mission from CIA operative Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) to retrieve an item from a safe in an airplane that was shot down in Albania. Church sends technical expert Maggie (Yu Nan) with the team to crack the safe. In Albania, the mercenaries successfully retrieve the item, but are then ambushed by international criminal and arms dealer Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and his mercenary group, the Sangs, commanded by Vilain's bodyguard Hector (Scott Adkins), who have captured Billy. Vilain demands the Expendables' weapons and the item in exchange for Billy's life. The team surrenders the item, but Vilain roundhouse kicks a knife through Billy's heart and flees with the Sangs by helicopter. Ross recovers a note for Sophia from Billy's body, and the team buries their fallen comrade, swearing revenge on Vilain.

Maggie tells the team that the item is a computer containing a blueprint to the location of five tons of refined plutonium abandoned in a mine by the Soviet Union following the Cold War. Vilain intends to retrieve the plutonium and sell it. The Expendables are able to partially track the blueprint computer's signal to follow Vilain, leading them to Bulgaria. They rest at an abandoned Russian military base overnight. The following morning, the team are ambushed by the Sangs and a tank. After the Expendables run out of ammunition, they are saved by Booker (Chuck Norris), Ross's old friend, who quickly eliminates both the Sangs and the tank. Before he departs, Booker informs the group of a nearby village whose residents oppose Vilain. Meanwhile, Hector and Vilain discover the plutonium and begin its collection.

Arriving at the village, the Expendables find several armed female villagers guarding their children from Vilain's forces: the local villages' inhabitants are taken by Vilain's forces and put to work in the mine as slaves, never returning. The women plead for the Expendables' help. The Sangs arrive to collect more villagers, but they are ambushed by the Expendables and killed. After locating Vilain and the mine, the team assaults the area with their plane before purposefully crashing into the mine itself. The team manages to save the enslaved miners from execution, but Vilain and Hector escape with the plutonium. Vilain remotely detonates explosive charges in the mine, causing it to collapse and trap the Expendables and miners.

Trench and Church arrive and free the Expendables and miners. The pair then joins with the Expendables to pursue Vilain. The group intercepts Vilain and his men at an airport as he prepares to leave by plane. Joined again by Booker, the Expendables, Trench, and Church engage the Sangs in battle. Christmas manages to decapitate Hector, while elsewhere Ross and Vilain fight their own personal duel. Ross defeats Vilain, stabbing him and avenging Billy.

In the aftermath, Ross is provided with an old biplane by Church. Church, Maggie, Booker, and Trench then leave the team. In France, Sophia (Nikolette Noel) discovers a box on her doorstep, containing a large sum of money and Billy's letter. As the Expendables depart in the plane, they give a final toast in honor of Billy.
